In 2000, I served as Assistant to the Program Chair for the Society for American Archaeology's annual meeting. The Program Chair for that year, Dr. Barbara Mills, asked me to build a database that would handle session scheduling, enforcement of meeting participation rules, and automated generation of the Preliminary Program, the Final Program, the Paper and Symposium Abstracts Volume, and all correspondence.
In 2001, the SAA Executive Director hired me to augment the database with a Microsoft Access front-end user interface and user manual. From 2001 through 2005, I worked as a contractor for the SAA, adding additional functionality to the database each year. In 2003, I was awarded the SAA's Presidential Recognition Award for my work on this project.
